Four Beach Restaurants to taste a lovely paella in Ibiza

With Summer at full swing in Ibiza, from the blog of, we thought of a very alluring suggestion for these days… To have a nice and lovely Ibicenco Paella right next to the sea!

Who’s up for it?  Next we’ll show you four great options, all of them very Ibiza style.

Let’s start by the fantastic beach of Cala d’Hort (in San José). El Carmen restaurant. It’s the first restaurant that you’ll see when you arrive to the beach. Lovely terrace with incredible views of the magic islet of Es Vedrà as well as magnificent sea views. Not many restaurants have views as nice as El Carmen. Very unique. Just this fact makes it worth going. It’s run by an Ibicenco family giving it a quality and traditional touch. It offers all the marvelous seafood dishes as well as the typical Ibicenco cuisine dishes. Paellas and rice dishes, broth rice dishes, “Bullit de Peix” (fish stew), fresh fish and shellfish dishes… Simply delightful. During summertime, as you can imagine, the influx of customers is huge. For this reason, if you decide to go, call up before to make a reservation, don’t forget to ask for your table in terrace area. It’s where you’ll have the best views.

Now let’s go all the way over to the other side of the island, up north. Another well known restaurant, Port de Balansat, located on the Port de Sant Miquel beach. It offers a wonderful traditional Ibicenco and seafood cuisine. Fantastic paellas, fresh fish and shellfish, seafood stews and a delicious “Bullit de Peix con Arroz a Banda” (fish stew with a typical rice dish). Very popular restaurant among the island residents. It has a wonderful terrace right on the sand of the beach, with very nice views to the beach (when making your reservation ask if it’s possible to get a table with the beach views).

And now let’s go back to the San José area, specifically to Cala Jondal beach and Yemanjá restaurant. One of the coolest beach restaurants on the island of Ibiza. Top class gastronomy and cuisine. Very fresh fish and shellfish. Excellent quality. You’ll find it on the left side of the beach. Very friendly and casual treatment by its Ibicenco owners. The tables are on the beach sand, right next to the water. Incredible views. And without any doubt, one of the best paellas of Ibiza (blind rice)

And today’s last restaurant suggestion is very near Cala Jondal beach, in the fantastic and wooded Porroig area (in the Sant Josep municipality). We’re talking about the restaurant Es Xarcu “La Cala Virgen”, at Es Xarcu cove. Small sand beach with a wild look. It has the best seafood produce of the Ibizan seas. Incredible Mediterranean rockfish (grouper, dentex, “rotja”, sole…) oven cooked in the traditional Ibicenco style. Simply excellent. And not to mention their fresh Mediterranean red shrimp! Another very popular dish. And as well all their typical rice dishes in all its varieties, including the paella, are just excellent.

Have a nice beach day and meal!
