Lips Reartes could be described as a beach club due to its strategic situation, right in front of Playa d’en Bossa beach; however its quality and wide gastronomic variety, makes it go beyond that qualifying to be considered an haute cuisine restaurant, with the advantage of being beside the beach.
David Reartes is the chef at the head of the kitchen, widely experienced in the field. The cuisine passion began when he was little, thanks to his family. It was when he was just 20 years-old when his father bought a restaurant, and began working in it, along with Tomás González, National Gastronomy Award. Fifteen years ago he opened his own restaurant in Barcelona, Santa María, whose success made him being offered to work in Ibiza.
The Ibiza version of Santa María restaurant (in Sant Josep) didn’t work very well, and it had to close after a year. In 2011 he came back to Ibiza, and before working in Cala Bassa Beach Club, El Chiringuito in Cala Gracioneta and Mambo Group, now he is doing his best in Lips.
The restaurant menu offers Mediterraean cuisine dishes with innovative and surprising nuances. Most part of the products they use are organic products coming from the island, as they collaborate with Ecofeixes, the first organic cooperative founded by farmers and ranchers of Ibiza. They have also two gourmet areas: Sa Bodegueta, where they provide canned products produced by José Peña to take away or taste in the restaurant, and also some others of their own creation as the extra virgin olive oil from Arbequina; and Mesa 0, which consists on a table in front of the kitchen to have a firsthand gourmet experience.
In summer they have a specific menu for the hammocks and Balinese beds area. It consist on more simple food as sandwiches, salads and a great variety of natural juices, milkshakes and cocktails to refresh in the hottest summer days.
Lips Reartes is one of the few restaurants that doesn’t close in winter, as they believe in having quality food in Ibiza throughout the year. From beginning of October they offer a daily menu with the exact same quality they have in all their dishes and following their philosophy, preparing dishes suitable for vegetarians, celiac and people suffering food allergies. For 16 euros you can satisfy your appetite with food as such: vegetables cream and Lotto root; grilled fish, sautéed vegetables and Velouté, Steak Tartare or apple in caramel with his ice cream.
