What they have in common Pau Gasol, Rafael Nadal and Enrique Iglesias?

If you have read this article title and you still don’t know the answer, it is because you haven’t heard of the new restaurants that would probably become trendy this summer in Ibiza: Tatel and Zela.

NBA player Pau Gasol, tenist player Rafael Nadal and the singer Enrique Iglesias have come together as founding partners of, not one, but two new restaurants in Ibiza, which will undoubtedly be a success. First of all, because both of them will become VIP and celebrities places to be, as could be seen in their inaugurations; and second of all, because both projects are lead by the two famous entrepreneurs Abel Matutes Prats and Manuel Campos Guallar, who turn everything they touch into gold (as it happened with Ushuaïa)

Although both have opened recently and are placed in some of the island strategic locations, certain details differentiate them, specially their gastronomic offer.

Refreshed Mediterranean cuisine is the hallmark of this restaurant that opened its doors last April 28 in the area of Playa d’en Bossa. Nacho Chicharro is the chef in charge of bringing new nuances to traditional recipes of Spanish gastronomy, in which fresh sea products are the main protagonists.

Located on the ground floor of the Hard Rock Hotel, in what used to be Estado Puro, Paco Roncero’s high quality tapas restaurant, it has several interior areas that evoke the 1920s’ glamour and a large terrace beside the beach. For those who want to continue the evening after dinner time (it is opened from 19 pm to 03 am), Tatel has a fantastic cocktail bar and live music so you don’t have to go partying anywhere else.

Tatel arrives to Ibiza after the success harvested in Madrid and Miami, which Rafael Nadal and Enrique Iglesias inaugurated in March.

The Mediterranean cuisine present in Tatel merges with the Japanese food in Zela to satisfy the exotic flavours lovers. This is the first Ibiza project of the Kabuki restaurant chef with four Michelin stars Ricardo Sanz, which complements the menu with references from other Asian countries and continents.

So we can start flying to Asia tasting some of its usuzukuris, sushis, dim sums or baos and then jump to the other side of the globe enjoying ceviche or tiradito. Zela also has the exclusive Caviar Zone, with dishes dedicated to this delicacy as “seaweed bread, marrow and caviar “or ” four oysters with a caviar can”.

This restaurant is located in another trendy area of Ibiza, in Avenida 8 de Agosto, between Marina Botafoch and Marina Nueva, very close to Pacha. It is presented as a new alternative for Ibiza nights this season, with live music booth with the best DJs until the wee hours of the morning, two terraces, a secret garden and three private rooms.
